Best Builders beat Loffreno Concrete 10-5 in five innings behind solid pitching by Ian Torello and Steve Guerra and three runs scored by Joseph Giacobbe

In his first action after returning from surgery, Steve Guerra pitched lights out in relief as he held Loffreno Concrete hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked three, and struck out six. Ian Torello recorded the win with a pitching line that included 2 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts and allowing three hits.

The offense started early with Best Builders scoring three runs in the first inning spearheaded by three singles (Devin Colon, Torello, and John Vitucci). Best Builders scored three additional runs in the second as Aiden Dertinger had a line drive base hit and Max Messing scored the inning's first run.

Two runs in the bottom of the second and third helped Loffreno Concrete close its deficit to 6-4 but Steve Guerra came in to pitch and shut down the side. Best Builders then played smart offense and used good pitch selection with timely hitting to take the lead to 10-4 to ensure that Steve Guerra's return to the team ended on a good note.
