Ian's Army | "At War for a Cure"
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) Man and Woman of the Year Campaign Ian's Army is in recruitment mode. We need your help!!!

Each year LLS holds a Man and Woman of the Year Campaign where several men and women are nominated for the event and this year I have that honor. Essentially it is an intense 10 week campaign and every dollar I raise is a vote for me. My son Ian was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at the age of 3. Ian's Chemotherapy lasted 3 years and 2 months (approximately 1,150 days), he experienced hair loss, nausea, swelling from steroids, numerous hospital stays, over 20 bone marrow samples and spinal taps, 60 occasions of chemo drugs administered by injection, over 150 blood tests and nearly 5,000 pills administered on a daily basis.

Thankfully Ian is now in remission and we are counting the days till he is considered cured. Our battle is not over. ALL used to be a death sentence, but because of LLS and help from people like you the cure rate is now 94%. However, other types of Leukemia are still the largest killer of people under 20 years old. Ian's Army wants to change that. Joining Ian's Army is simple and quite fun. You can simply click the donate button below or you can attend one of the many events we will be holding between March 27th and June 5th. Please see the list of events below Ian and I and all that belong to Ian's Army thank you.

YOUR SON HAS CANCER.
At the time, four of the most devastating words I could ever imagine. My son Ian is now 10 years old and a happy and healthy boy. When those words were spoken though, many thoughts ran through our heads, including; “Are we going to lose our Son”. I am chilled by those thoughts to this day. However, Ian is thriving and in no clear way can I explain the happiness and the relief we now have. In turn I have dedicated myself to the cause of providing other families with that same conclusion. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) has been raising money for research since 1944. At that time Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), which Ian was diagnosed with, was a death sentence. Today the cure rate is 94%, but the job is not done.

Each year LLS has a contest called “Man and Woman of the Year” (MWOTY). This year I am honored to be a nominee. I honestly believe every person who has raised funds, or donated to this cause was a contributor in saving Ian’s life. There are many more types of Leukemia & Lymphoma other than ALL and the disease remains the # 1 killer among children under the age of 20. I want all of us to recognize a change to that conclusion in our lifetime.

For me to be the winner of Man of the Year I have to raise more money than the other competitors and every dollar I raise is a vote for me. I am as competitive a person as you will ever meet, shoot; I’ve pulled hamstrings playing darts. It is not about winning this competition though; it’s about making a difference in people’s lives. Same as all those past fundraisers and contributors have done for my family; have done for Ian. We do save lives by donating, it’s a FACT.

I have set a goal of raising $100,000 for this competition so obviously I need your help this year more than ever. I will be hosting a number of events over the next 10 weeks and I will be in constant contact with you, I hope you don’t mind.

I will be hosting a golf outing, a tennis event, bar parties, a Jersey Boys show, a wine tasting event and more. All are listed on our website, www.ians-army.com, where you can buy tickets and make donations.

The culmination to this event will be a Gala at Cipriani Wall Street on June 5th. I ask of those that can to support this event most of all but certainly realize its expense. Please see the attached documents which will guide you through the options. If you cannot, I certainly understand and ask that you please support the others on the website. I also ask that each of you use your network of friends and co-workers to publicize this campaign by sending my communications to the same people you send email jokes and work related emails to.

I thank you all for your valuable time and attention to a cause that has affected so many and is close to my family’s heart.
